I believe in providing solid editorial feedback that builds confidence, not anxiety, and I approach every editing project with that in mind.
You deserve to get meaningful feedback on your story while also feeling like your editor is cheering you on.
Some Common Questions:
Isn’t proofreading looking for grammar errors and typos? What’s the difference between that and a copyedit?
Proofreading is more of a final pass for typos and general errors, and copyediting is where you are really doing that sentence-level editing for grammar, usage, spelling, punctuation, and consistency with style choices (using a numeral instead of spelling out a number, as one example).
If you can only budget for one service, you’re going to get the most bang for your buck by going with the copyediting service. However, I also understand that sometimes the less expensive proofread is all an indie author can afford, and that’s okay!
What if I don’t know what type of editing I need?
We can talk and figure it out together! I offer manuscript evaluations for big-picture edits (think of it as a dev edit lite), but a lot of my clients are at the point where they need sentence-level editing, not structure. Editing is not cheap, and I never want a client to pay for something they may not need yet.
What happens after I reach out for more info?
Once you get in touch via the inquiry form on my contact page, I will follow up with you by email to get any additional info and request a sample for me to edit. Within two business days of receiving the sample edit, I’ll return it back to you to review, along with a “Working with Me” packet that details the proposed cost, my schedule availability, and any other questions you may have.
How do I pay you?
If you’d like to book a service, I will send you a service agreement and project cost and you’ll pay a 20% deposit to secure a spot in my schedule. The typical payment schedule is 20% to book, 30% at the start of the project, and the remaining 50% within two days after receiving the edited manuscript. I also offer 4-month payment plans for projects over $1,500.
I accept payments by ACH, credit, or debit card through Stripe.
